There’s a reason February is shorter than all the other months.

It’s (generally) cold.

The bright and shiny have worn off those holiday gifts. Soups, stews, chili, anything cooked in a crock pot (Instapot for all you millennials), all of it, yesterday’s news.

Chapped lips, dry skin, flyaway hair, static electricity – stop it, stop it now.

The only redeeming quality about February? Valentine’s Day!

About 10 years ago I got schooled by several female co-workers. They were vehemently opposed to celebrating Valentine’s Day. Yes, vehemently. That’s what I said.

100% of said co-workers were in committed relationships so this was not a study in “all the single ladies…”.

They hated Hallmark. They proclaimed that they celebrated love in their relationships every day. Okay, that’s cool. Yes, I was a bit uncomfortable as I marched my Valentine’s Day floral delivery from the receptionist’s desk back to my office. However, that was then and this is now.

Yeppers, I choose to celebrate this commercialized, overzealous, back your partner in a corner Day of Love. I bought a card and a tiny gift (under $10) for my guy. Last year I made heart-shaped Rice Crispy treats for him. Call me a hopeless romantic.
